The 2020 US Masters takes place this week at Augusta National and bettors are rushing to place their bets ahead of Day One’s play. We spoke to the PointsBet trading team to find out who has been bet the most and what players they are worried about this week
On ‘Masters Eve’ we spoke to PointsBet’s Michael Korn, who kindly supplied answers to the questions we wanted to know the answers to before we placed our bets on the winner of the 2020 Green Jacket.
Who has been the most bet player to win the Masters?
Bryson DeChambeau (by a wide margin) We are currently seeing Bryson attract 10.3% of the bets while the next highest is Dustin Johnson at only 7.4% of the bet count – overwhelming action on DeChambeau
Who has seen the most money on them?
To no surprise…Bryson DeChambeau
Anyone who you have been surprised to see supported?
A bit surprising to see so much action on Tony Finau (+3300) He can hit the ball as hard as any of the guys on tour (Bryson included) but was definitely interesting to see so much action come on him
What is the biggest bet you have laid so far?
$1,000 @ +40000 on JT Poston (Would win 400K)
What is your biggest liability?
Bryson DeChambeau is by far our biggest liability
Who are you keen to keep onside this week?
Dustin Johnson (+850) – has been playing very consistent this year
Who are you keen to take on?
Tiger Woods – he has not played in a while and is obviously very tough to win the Masters back-to-back years (has only been done by Tiger, Nicklaus, and Faldo)
What’s the most unusual bet you have laid?
Have racked up quite the liability on Jon Rahm “to get a hole in one” after he sunk two of them in practice rounds this week
Are any of the side markets getting much action?
Most popular tournament h2h so far has been Bryson DeChambeau over Rory Mcilroy. While Bryson is the favorite to win the whole tournament, Rory is the favorite in his h2h matchup against Bryson due to variance and range of outcomes in golf.
Any specials that PointsBet are running?
PointsBet have a ‘Masters Hub’ section on their app which has a whole host of special bets, including whether there will be a Hole in One, if it will be a past champion or a first time winner, and even whether Bryson will drive over 370 yards on any hole this week.
Anything to look out for over the weekend?
Will be interesting to see if Bryson can pull this off as the huge favorite or if he struggles. Always good to keep an eye out for any weather patterns, especially with the tournament being played in November this year.
Give us a player at long odds who may go well?
Scottie Scheffler, currently +6000 odds at PointsBet
Who is your own pick to win the Green Jacket?
