Tuesday Bundesliga Preview

The highlight of Tuesday’s fixtures is, without a doubt, Der Klassiker between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich. The two sides have met a total of 125 times, with Bayern winning 59 of them. Also known as the ‘German Clasico’, Der Klassiker is a famous rivalry due to the significant successes of Bayern and Dortmund compared to the rest of the country’s soccer clubs. In fact, the two clubs have won a combined total of 21 of the last 25 Bundesliga titles one of the two will almost certainly make it 22 this season.

Elsewhere, Bayer Leverkusen are hoping to continue their great form into a huge game against 6th place Wolfsburg, which could help them considerably on their way to securing Champions League soccer next season. Freiburg are also in search of European soccer as they travel to Frankfurt, while 5th place Monchengladbach make the trip to Bremen. Here’s the updated Bundesliga table ahead of Tuesday’s fixtures.

With the rest of the league playing their fixtures on Wednesday, the clubs competing on Tuesday will hope to record victories and put pressure on those around them in the Bundesliga standings.

Tuesday Bundesliga Predictions and Picks

Pick 1: Bayer Leverkusen 1st Half Winner vs. Wolfsburg (+115 at DraftKings)

Since the return of the Bundesliga, Bayer Leverkusen have beaten league-strugglers Werder Bremen 4-1 and Monchengladbach 3-1. In both games, Leverkusen have looked dangerous from the first minute, with star man Kai Havertz and his teammates constantly causing problems for the opposition in attack.

Leverkusen went into the half-time break of both games in the lead, setting themselves up nicely for a full-time victory. It seems that the team’s game plan is to shoot out the blocks and clinch that all-important early goal to set the pace of the game and make it as difficult as possible for their opponent.

This week, Leverkusen host 6th place Wolfsburg, a team who do pose considerable threat. However, since the return to action, Wolfsburg have failed to show any superiority in their performances. A last-minute winner against 12th place Augsburg followed by a 2-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund will not worry Leverkusen. We predict a Leverkusen victory on Tuesday and, more specifically, a first half victory.

Pick 2: Borussia Monchengladbach Moneyline vs. Werder Bremen (-125 at FOXbet)

The league standings and recent form of these two teams is very different. Monchengladbach sit in 5th place in the Bundesliga, hoping to secure one of those sought after top four places and be playing Champions League soccer next season. They have won three of their previous five league games and will be confident of securing another win on Tuesday.

Bremen are in trouble at the bottom of the Bundesliga in 17th place, three points away from Fortuna Dusseldorf in 16th and six points from safety. They will be desperate to get anything from Tuesday’s matchup, but recent performances suggest they may fail to do so. Bremen have earned just 3 points from their last five Bundesliga matches and, although they won on Saturday against Freiburg, haven’t really shown any real quality this season.

Monchengladbach cruised to a 3-1 win last time the two sides met in October. Both sides are desperate for all three points in this fixture, but we think Monchengladbach will have enough to defeat the home side.

Pick 3: Robert Lewandowski to score in Bayern Munich vs. Borussia Dortmund (-175 at FanDuel)

Der Klassiker is always a tough one to predict and this time it’s no different. The two teams come into this game in scintillating form. Both teams have won their last 10 Bundesliga games! Bayern are just four points ahead of Dortmund in the league standings as they hope to achieve an eighth successive championship. There’s no doubt about the quality of the two sides, with individuals capable of producing magic at any time.

Tuesday’s game will be seen by many as the battle of Erling Haaland vs. Robert Lewandowski. Haaland is new to this rivalry, whereas ex-Dortmund man Lewandowski has scored 18 goals in 19 games against his former team since signing for Bayern back in 2013. An unbelievable record. At 31 years old, Lewandowski is still the man to rely on for goals and is the league’s top goal scorer with 27 goals (that’s 82 minutes per goal!).

While it’s difficult to predict who will come out on top in this enticing clash, we do think Lewandowski will continue his goal scoring form into Tuesday’s game and contribute to Bayern’s goal tally.
