New York Jets at Baltimore Ravens Preview

Who’s #1 on your MVP ballot? If you don’t say Lamar Jackson, you haven’t been paying attention. Jackson, who BTW started +5000 for MVP this season, is having an unbelievable year, throwing for 28 Passing TDs, while rushing for 1,017 yards and another 7 TDs. He’s been unstoppable. He’s on pace to break Michael Vick’s single-season record for most rushing yards by a QB.

It’s not only Jackson who’s been impressive. The team is just well-rounded, and well-coached. Their running attack cannot be stopped, lead by Mark Ingram, and their defense is flying around, causing turnovers, and getting timely stops. It’s no surprise the Ravens are 11-2 and hold the #1 seed in the AFC.

The Jets have quietly turned their season around. Facing a 1-7 start and questions circulating the coaching staff, they’ve put together wins in 4 of their last 5 games to improve to 5-8. It’s not the season that most Jets fans would’ve liked to see, but progress is better than regression, and it’s clear that they’ve been making progress as of late.

The biggest concern for the Jets is whether or not Sam Darnold is their QB of the future. At times, he looks like a future All-Pro, and other times he looks lost. You’ve all seen the video of him saying he’s “seeing ghosts” against New England on MNF. He’s a young QB who experiences growing pains. I personally think he’s their guy.

This game doesn’t have too much significance in the AFC playoff picture, as the Ravens are comfortably on top and the Jets won’t be involved, but the Ravens want to keep rolling, and the Jets are looking for a signature win to use as a springboard.

New York Jets at Baltimore Ravens Spread Prediction

I often try to give a professional analysis for these games. To me, this one doesn’t warrant one. It seems like each time the Ravens play an inferior opponent, they absolutely destroy them, and their starters are watching the 4th quarter from the bench.

Now, I don’t think the Jets lose 45-7, but I don’t think they’ll be within 2 touchdowns. The Ravens offense is too explosive, and their defense is too good as well. Take the Ravens here at -14.5 in a 3 score victory.
