Dallas Cowboys at Chicago Bears Preview

If there was ever a team desperate for a victory, it’d be the Dallas Cowboys. A couple weeks back, they were sitting pretty at 6-4 looking forward to two matchups with AFC East foes. What followed next was the worst case scenario. They lost a winnable game in Foxboro due to coaching and Special Team blunders, and followed that up with a clunker in front of the whole country on Thanksgiving. They now sit at 6-6, but somehow still lead the NFC East due to the incompetence of the Eagles.

The Bears entered this season with high expectations, and believe it or not, QB Mitchell Trubisky was actually the most the most common MVP bet before the season. Times have changed, as Chicago now has a QB decision on their hands, and nobody is putting Trubisky anywhere near their MVP ballots.

The Bears calling card has been their defense. While still solid, it has not been spectacular this season, and without the consistent turnovers and points from that unit, the offense has struggled to put up points. They showed some signs of life in their 24-20 victory over the Lions on Thanksgiving, but a close victory against a team starting their 3rd-String QB for his first career game is nothing to be proud of.

The key to this game will be which offense can get big plays. Against these defenses, it’s hard to sustain long drives. If the Bears can get an early lead, they can rely on their pass rush to make things difficult for Dak Prescott. If not, the Cowboys may be able to pull away.

Dallas Cowboys at Chicago Bears Spread Pick

Desperation can make crazy things happen. Both of these teams are desperate for a victory, but the real pressure is on the Cowboys. The Bears have a slim chance at the playoffs, but the Cowboys are right in the thick of things. To make matters worse, 9/10 Cowboys fans would like to see HC Jason Garrett being fired.

In Dak Prescott’s short career, he has shown an incredible ability to respond to adversity. Their current situation is the definition of just that. It will be interesting to see if him and the Cowboys can respond with a big road victory to help cool their coaches seat.

The Cowboys are 3 point favorites on the road in this game. With the way their season has gone, I would not be surprised to see them win or lose this game by 20. However, under Jason Garrett, things have never gotten too bad. When the ship looks like it’s sinking, they always seem to respond. Because of that, I’m taking the Cowboys to win this game in a close game. Give me the Cowboys at -3.
