Super Bowl Odds and Betting Lines 2022

Updated Super Bowl odds and betting lines for the 2022 season after the Chiefs’ defeat to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl 55.

After the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs on home turf in Super Bowl 55, the sportsbooks are now looking ahead to a new season.

Heading in to the start of the 2020-2021 NFL season, the Chiefs were favorites to retain the Super Bowl after an impressive 2020 season. Patrick Mahomes was continuing to develop as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Meanwhile, the Bucs were listed at 50-1 to win Super Bowl 55 when odds were first released.

The news that Tom Brady was heading to Tampa dropped the Bucs’ odds significantly, but not enough to match the Chiefs. As we all know, Brady and the Bucs went on to win the Super Bowl.

However, the Chiefs are a talented bunch and their recent Super Bowl loss doesn’t stop them from topping the Super Bowl odds and betting lines for 2022.

Super Bowl 2022 Team Futures

The Favorites

As already mentioned, the Kansas City Chiefs are currently the strongest team in the NFL on paper. This is why they are the outright favorites to reach Super Bowl 56.

After Super Bowl 55 success, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are up there in the Super Bowl 2022 odds. Tampa’s defense is impressive and this combined with having arguably the best quarterback in NFL history makes for a great season ahead.

The Green Bay Packers make up the top three favorites and with good reason. Reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers performed at a consistently high level last season resulting in Green Bay reaching the NFC Conference Finals. Many are backing Rodgers to clinch a second Super Bowl in 2022 with his Packers teammates.

The Buffalo Bills are second-favorites in the AFC with their superstar quarterback Josh Allen and highly-talented wide receiver Stefon Diggs. If there’s one quarterback to challenge Patrick Mahomes in the coming season, it’s Josh Allen.

The Super Bowl 2022 odds on the Baltimore Ravens are low, with the sportsbooks predicting they will be able to compete at the top next season. The Ravens were hit by a COVID-19 crisis and their main man Lamar Jackson didn’t seem to live up to his 2019 performances. If Baltimore avoid any outside issues next season they will be a force to be reckoned with.

The Contenders

A quarterback upgrade for the Los Angeles Rams has resulted in a flurry of early bets on Matt Stafford’s new team. The Rams are now branded as dark horses for the upcoming NFL season.

The San Francisco 49ers were plagued by injuries last season after reaching the Super Bowl final back in 2019. If they can keep their star players fit and healthy, the franchise could be back in the Super Bowl.

With an outsider chance, the New Orleans Saints will be hoping to build on their strong standing in the NFC last season. The big question here will be what will happen to the quarterback position in New Orleans – can Drew Brees, Jameis Winston or Taysom Hill lead them to glory?

After leading the Cleveland Browns to their first playoff win since 1994, Coach of the Year Kevin Stefanski will be high in confidence and looking to carry this into the 2022 NFL season.

Finally, can Russell Wilson live up to the hype and win another Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks? Seattle are definitely in the running for the upcoming NFL season and cannot be ruled out.

NFL MVP Odds 2022

One of the most popular NFL betting odds markets associated with the Super Bowl is the odds for NFL MVP. For a second consecutive season, Patrick Mahomes tops the NFL and Super Bowl MVP odds market.

Here are the top 20 in the NFL MVP favorites list at DraftKings Sportsbook:

All of the familiar quarterback names we’d associate with the Super Bowl and the NFL are there – Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady and more. There are also some dark horses in there such as Justin Herbert, Kyler Murray and Ryan Tannehill.

The Super Bowl MVP odds and overall NFL MVP odds are strongly impacted by a franchise’s performances throughout the season and so these odds are expected to change frequently once the 2022 NFL season gets going.

Can Aaron Rodgers claim the NFL MVP crown again or will it be a new name in 2022?

How to bet on the Super Bowl 2022

Super Bowl Futures bets

Futures bets are a great way to keep yourself entertained for an entire season or an extended period of time or to add excitement to rooting on your favorite team. Alternatively, they are a great way to shift focus to the success or failure of your rivals.

Not only are Super Bowl futures bets popular, but other team futures like division winners, conference winners and team totals are popular too. Similarly, player futures such as MVP, number of touchdowns in a season and offensive and defensive rookies of the year are all popular amongst NFL fans.

As expected, the odds on futures bets are volatile and can change dramatically as a result of player injuries, trades, big events in the NFL and more. Keep a close eye on your futures bets throughout the season as you may be offered a generous cash out from your online sportsbook if your futures bet is looking promising.

Moneyline bets

All sports bettors will be aware of NFL moneyline bets. A moneyline bet is simply a bet on which team will win the game outright, regardless of margin.

Moneyline bets are popular choices when building an NFL parlay on game day or when the two teams matched up together are very close to call.

Totals bets (Over/Under)

A totals bet is when you choose a pre-determined over or under on an NFL game. The over/under could focus on points, number of touchdowns, number of sacks and more. For example, if the Super Bowl 2022 had the over/under total set at 50 points, you could bet on the number of points in the Super Bowl being either under 50 points or over 50 points.

Over/under totals are pre-determined by the sportsbooks and are often very close to -110 odds for either outcome.

Super Bowl MVP

This one has already been mentioned and for good reason. It is one of the most popular betting markets for the Super Bowl and will be again this season. Everyone thinks they can predict the Super Bowl MVP and, as a result, millions is wagered on this Super Bowl betting market every year.

Any player can receive the title of Super Bowl MVP, but it is worth noting that 29 of the 54 MVP awards in Super Bowl history have been awarded to quarterbacks.

Live betting

Live betting in the Super Bowl and in the NFL in general gives you the opportunity to bet in real time on key events. Throughout a game, odds on betting markets will continue to change, so consider live betting and taking advantage of these changes.

Super Bowl parlays

NFL parlays are a great way to enhance your wager’s odds. Whether it is combining multiple moneyline bets, over/under bets or player props, parlays are extremely popular in sports betting and in NFL betting.

Recently, a number of major online sportsbooks in the US have launched their own same game parlays. This allows sports fans to choose multiple bets from the same game to transform into a customized parlay. This gives bettors the option to place their very own Super Bowl parlays from now on to make The Big Game even more interesting.
