American Sports Equinox Day: A Bettor’s Dream

Patrick Cooney explains why Sunday October 27th, 2019 is the dream day for American sports bettors.

A rarity of an event may become an actuality this coming Sunday in America. The possibility exists for the occurrence of the American Sports Equinox! For the uninitiated, the American Sports Equinox occurs when all of the core-four professional sports leagues (NFL, MLB, NBA, & NHL) have games on the same day. There is only a small window for the possibility of such a day to occur, making it truly unique. For die-hard fans and sports bettors alike, this coming Sunday is a sports holiday that rivals any other holiday centered around gift giving and elaborate feasts. American Betting Experts is celebrating the day by giving you the gift of great picks so we can all feast on the winnings together. Here are some picks in advance of our special day so we can all hopefully enjoy the holiday party…

NFL

The day will start as so many other Sundays do this time of year, with the NFL. Our first play of the day should get us off to a good start at 1:00pm EST, as we like the Arizona Cardinals led by Kyler Murray playing on the fast track of the Superdome. While the Saints do have an incredibly staunch defense, the Kingsbury offensive style of play should keep them on pace to cover the large spread. Drew Brees is slated to take first team reps at practice this week for the Saints in hopes he is able to go on Sunday. But that may not be turn out to be a good thing. If Brees plays there may be some rust to work off, which can help the Cardinals stay in the game. However, if Brees ends up not playing his practicing with the first team all week could be a detriment to Teddy Bridgewater’s preparation. Either way it helps the Cardinals stay viable in this game.

NBA

The American Sports Equinox holiday continues at 3:30pm EST with the start of the NBA slate of games. In the first game of the day the Golden State Warriors travel to Oklahoma City. The Warriors take on the Thunder whose roster is rather depleted with the exit of Westbrook to the Houston Rockets. The Thunder will now feature Chris Paul, Danilo Gallinari, and Steven Adams but it won’t be enough to top the Curry led Warriors. Even with Klay Thompson out for what is now expected to be the entire season, the Warriors are just too much for this Thunder team to handle.

NHL

The day keeps getting better when the puck drops to ice at 5:00pm EST in Detroit. The reigning champion St. Louis Blues take on the Red Wings in what should be a one-sided contest. Historically, the Blues travel very well and had a winning road record last year. The Blues were so good on the road last year they actually had more losses at home. Players like Ryan O’Reilly, Vladimir Tarasenko, and Brayden Schenn make for too much offensive fire power to be handled by the Red Wings so expect the road dominance trend to continue.

MLB

The American Sports Equinox all hinges on the World Series being extended to a 5th game. Were either team to sweep this whole great holiday wouldn’t be possible. As bettors we all love the action, so let’s hope this can be a 7-game series. For our Holiday, we’d be looking at a World Series game #5 with an 8:00pm EST start time. A game #5 would most probably pit a rematch of game #2 starters Verlander & Strasburg. This game would be in our nation’s capital which not only gives the Nationals an actual home field advantage but would also mean that the Astros would lose use of the DH spot. With no designated hitter the Astros will be in the predicament of playing a defensively subpar Yordan Alvarez in the field or benching him in favor of a veteran like Josh Reddick. If Alvarez wasn’t currently muddled in an offensive slump the easy answer would be to start him in a corner outfield spot to be replaced defensively by Jake Marisnick with a late inning lead. Regardless, neither lineup configuration will be enough to beat Strasburg on the bump at home.

Since it is a holiday why not also play a parlay? It could be the gift that keeps on giving, and keeps the holiday feast going!
