Saturday Night Hockey 5 Best Bets: Preview, Picks, and Predictions

Matt DiLeo (3-0 in his last article) previews his favorite bets for Saturday Night’s hockey slate.

Best Bets Preview

There have been a lot of surprises so far during the first month of hockey and we have a huge slate for Saturday’s games. The first game starts at 1pm EST and the last game starts at 10pm EST so you can watch the games all day long. The Puck line and Over/Under odds aren’t available yet, but let’s dive right in to my top 5 bets of the night anyways.

Tampa Bay Lightning -1.5 (+110) @ Ottawa Senators

The Lightning just blew out the Maple Leafs 7-3 on Thursday Night and they have a day off before playing Ottawa. They are arguably the best team in the league and playing at a high level. Ill lay the juice against a Senators team in the bottom of the league every time until I see the senators able to close out games.

Nashville Predators (-152) @ Los Angeles Kings

Nashville just had a great comeback victory against the Capitals on their home ice and they are looking to continue this groove. The Kings just let the Canucks pour in 8 goals on Wednesday and I don’t see the Kings being any better than last year at all. Nashville will look to go into LA and blow them out before they wait to play Vegas on Tuesday.

Maple Leafs (-210) @ Detroit Red Wings

Toronto just got blown out by the Lightning, but they are still the #2 Team in the East. The Red Wings are a fan favorite right now as they are 3-1 on the year. However, they just beat a Canadians team that was on the back end of a back to back which makes it not as impressive. I’ll look for the Maple Leafs to regroup and secure a win in Detroit to bring the Detroit fans back to reality.

Arizona Coyotes @ Colorado Avalanche (-177)

The Coyotes just beat the Golden Knights at home to secure their first win of the season on Thursday. They are probably feeling pretty good about themselves, but that should end on Saturday Night when they have to go on the road to face the 3-0 Avalanche. The Avalanche are an absolute force this year and you will probably see them as a higher seed come playoff time and I will continue to back them, especially on home ice.

Columbus Blue Jackets @ Carolina Hurricanes (-182)

Both teams will be on the second half of a back to back, which means both teams won’t be 100%. With that being said I like the Hurricanes a lot this year and the home ice will give them the extra energy boost that they need. Take the better team at home with a pretty decent price.
