Monday Night Football: New Orleans Saints vs. Los Angeles Chargers Preview & Best Bets

When Monday arrives we get to see the Old Guard(Brees) against the New Pup(Herbert) light up the scoreboard against 2 bad Pass Defenses on Monday Night Football.

Justin Herbert was thrown in his first start with literally only minutes to prepare after Tyrod Taylor had his lung punctured while getting a pain-killing injection for a rib injury. The kid has taken the NFL world by storm since. Herbert has not thrown for less than 290 yards against three of the top-15 pass defenses in the NFL when he faced them. He threw for 290 against Tampa Bay’s 13th ranked D at the time(now 16th), 311 against the still 3rd ranked Kansas City D, and 330 against the still 7th ranked Panthers D.

He now sets his sights on his first win against the future Hall-Of-Famer Drew Brees and his Saints squad on Monday Night Football. Brees and the Saints pulled out a win against the Detroit Lions and quieted his own “fell off a cliff” talk. Even though Drew has not had a Passer Rating less than 90.6 in any start this season. I never got how everyone focused on convincing us Brees was done. Then completely ignored a defense that has allowed at least 23 points to every opponent. Including at least 29 to the last 3.

So this is where I will begin my picks and take the over on the line set at 50.5 with BetMGM. These 2 teams would have been a combine 7-1 against this line in there 8 combined games:

I also feel good about the Chargers keeping this close and taking them with the +7.5, also from BetMGM. The Chargers and Herbert have yet to lose by more than 7 points this season:

As mentioned before, Justin Herbert has yet to throw for less than 290 yards in his 3 starts. I don’t see that ended on Monday Night and will take the Over on his Passing Yards line of 255.5 with BetMGM:

Hunter Henry has had at least 5 catches in all but one game. He currently has his receptions line set at 4.5. The Saints have the second worst pass defense against TE’s. So, I was happy to take this bet from BetMGM:
