Philadelphia Eagles vs Green Bay Packers Preview, Predictions, and Picks. Will the Packers roll to 4-0?

Matt DiLeo previews the Thursday Night Football Showdown between the Eagles and the Packers.

This Week 4 matchup will begin at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin on Thursday September 26th at 8:15pm.

Eagles vs Packers Preview

Finally, we have an exciting game to watch on Thursday night. This could end up being the NFC championship game for all we know. This should be a great test to where both these NFC favorites should be. Philadelphia (1-2) has not lived up to the hype surrounding this year at all and could see themselves fall to 1-3 if they don’t figure it out by Thursday night. Green Bay (3-0) on the other hand, has surprised many people by how quickly they seem to have figured it out. They have a legit defense and a decent running game to compliment Rodgers. The Eagles will need their WR’s to be healthy and ready to go against this new Packers defense if they want a chance to win. The line opened up at -2.5 in favor of the Packers and has moved to -4.5 as of Tuesday night. Is the public over valuing the Packers?

Eagles

Carson Wentz is back, but that’s the least of the Eagles troubles right now. The pre-season NFC East favorites could see this division being slowly taken over by the Dallas Cowboys and after losing to the Lions at home, need to steal this game. One thing to note is that in both the Eagles losses, they lost by 4 points and 3 points which means they at least keep it close. I think that Alshon Jeffery will play and that will give them enough of a threat to make some big plays down the stretch.

Packers

The Packers went into Chicago and stole a game there and then went back home to take care of business against the Vikings and Broncos. They have to be feeling good about themselves going into this game as they have been in control and pretty much dominant in the 3 games they played so far. They haven’t played anybody as offensively equipped as the Eagles, but they have to be happy with their play style to date. Aron Jones is scoring the ball and has become a legit goal line threat and that forces teams to be honest, which lets Aaron Rodgers do what Aaron Rodgers does.

Key Stats

  • Philadelphia is 0-6 ATS in last 6 September games.
  • Green Bay Is 4-1 ATS In their last 5 games.
  • Green Bay is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 in September.

Eagles vs. Packers Prediction

This could be a must win game for the Eagles as they can’t afford to go 0-3, but also for the Packers who are in 1 of the toughest divisions in football. The Eagles are flustered and banged up and the short week does not help them AT ALL. The Eagles have to travel to Green Bay on a short week and they are beaten up? This makes me lean Packers off of the jump. Pair that with the fact that the line is shifting in the Packers favor and I think I’m going to bite on it. We saw the same movement in the Bears favor on Monday and that ended up with the Bears covering easily. Give me Rodgers and the Packers to own Thursday Night yet again and take advantage of a beaten down Eagles team on a short week.
