Nick Ballistreri is undefeated in his NFL picks so far. Here’s his pick for Thursday’s Eagles/Jaguars.
The moment everyone has been waiting for…Nick Foles return against the Eagles! Hold your horses, as the Jaguars announced that Nick Foles will not be playing in this preseason bout. Whatever. Anyways, the Eagles and Jaguars are both coming off losses, with the Eagles being handed a 27-10 loss to Tennessee in their opener, and the Jaguars coming off an ugly 29-0 loss.
It’s just preseason right? Well, both teams would tell you that, as they would say that results don’t matter, but progress does. It’s only preseason right? As it gets closer to the season, both teams are looking for not only progress, but results as well.
The Eagles were handed a 27-10 loss to the Titans in their preseason opener. Every team looks to go through the preseason with no injuries, but unfortunately for the Eagles, that is not the case. Last week, backup QB Nate Sudfeld went down with an injury. While normally an uneventful injury to the backup QB, with starting QB Carson Wentz’s injury history, this could come back to haunt the Eagles. With Wentz coming out and saying he “feels good either way”, look for the Eagles to hold him out of this one.
On the Jaguars front, it’s business as usual for them. Quarterback Nick Foles, the prized free agent addition for the team, will be held out of this game. For the fans out there, yes that’s the same Nick Foles that lead the Eagles to a Super Bowl victory. With his prior experience, the team feels it’s in their best interest to hold him out of this one. As always with starters, there is little to gain, and a lot to lose.
Let’s be honest, both of these teams think they can compete for their division crown. With that being said, I doubt many starters see the field. There simply is not enough to gain with risking injuries. I think both teams will come to play due to the fact that they were both beaten handily last time out.
So let’s talk game action. I know it’s only preseason, but the Jaguars lost their last game 29-0. Any head coach would be disappointed by that performance.

Eagles vs Jaguars Spread Prediction
Yes it’s preseason, but players, and fans included care about these games. While the Eagles don’t plan on playing many starters, I expect the Jaguars to play some. Preseason or not, 29-0 is a sore spot for many coaches. With this in mind, I expect the Jaguars to give a much better effort this week. The line is set at -3, and I expect them to easily cover this. Give me the Jaguars at -3, and feel good at taking the points in this one.
