The New York Mets will look to bounce back after losing a tough series in Washington, and the Marlins will try another hack at a series at home against their division rivals from New York. The Mets suffered a few minor injuries last night with Michael Conforto suffering a concussion and Jeff McNeil leaving the game with some stomach pain as well. The Marlins have the core of their lineup playing, but as the season has shown that doesn’t particularly matter that much.
The Marlins are currently sitting at 10-31, which is on pace for about 60 wins on the season, while the Mets are standing at 20-22 and fighting to get over that .500 hump. New York is sending out Steven Matz who is fresh off an injury and looking to get back in the groove as he is 3-2 with a 3.86 ERA. Miami will toss out Pablo Lopez who is 2-5 with a 5.93 ERA. To add to the Marlins struggles, the last time Lopez got the start against the Mets he gave up 10 runs in only 3 innings.
The Mets may be a little banged up at the moment and continuing a long road trip, but I just have to keep laying the juice against the Marlins as they can’t seem to get any runs on the board and seem to fall deeper into rock bottom every day.
I would take the Mets to get back to their winning ways against the always struggling Marlins and I would probably get added value with the Mets -1.5. Take New York all the way here.
