New York Islanders vs Philadelphia Flyers Preview
We are now 2-1 with our picks this series, let’s look at game 4 to keep rolling!
The Flyers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in yesterday’s game and were looking pretty solid through the 1st period. The Islanders made some changes and put on a clinic to secure the 3-1 victory.
The Flyers abysmal power play unit is still not showing up, and they are suffering from it. On top of that, the Islanders are only committing 1 or 2 penalties a game. This is the game plan that the Islanders are executing perfectly. They don’t play pretty hockey; they play smart hockey. They also scored on their power play in 2 consecutive games, which shows that they are getting more comfortable on the offensive side as well.
This series scares me for a couple reasons, and a main reason is that the Flyers bounced back so from the 1st game and scored 3 quick goals in the 2nd. They ended up almost blowing it, barely surviving in OT and escaping with a win. They have shown in spurts that they can be dangerous, but the Islanders confidence have to be at an all-time high right now.
The fact is, the Islanders have been in every game during the playoffs. They have yet to lose by more than 1 goal in these playoffs. They have outscored their opponents 40-23 this postseason, with 9 wins and 3 losses. Each of those losses were by 1 goal and 1 was in OT. This team is dangerous, and I have to keep backing them until they cool off.
New York Islanders vs Philadelphia Flyers Game 4 Prediction
The Islanders are still getting disrespected on these sportsbooks. Take them up until (-130), they are clearly playing better than the Flyers and have shown how disciplined they are. While it may be a back to back and we might see more sloppy penalties with tired feet, the Flyers can’t even score 1 goal on their power play unit. Take the Islanders again here. I’ll predict a 4-2 victory with this one.
