New York Islanders vs Philadelphia Flyers Preview, Predictions & Picks

Matt DiLeo previews Game 3 between the New York Islanders and Philadelphia Flyers and makes his picks, with the series tied 1-1.

The New York Islanders will take on the Philadelphia Flyers in game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals on Thursday, August 27th, at 7:00 pm EST.

New York Islanders vs Philadelphia Flyers Preview

We are now 1-1 with our picks this series, let’s look at game 3 to get back on track! We were 3 minutes away from surviving the under in yesterday’s game, but the Flyers couldn’t close out the game in regulation as they let the Islanders tie it with less than 3 minutes to go.

The Flyers figured it out and came out hot in the 1st period taking a 3-0 lead and were looking to cruise through game 2 until the Islanders slowly came back and force OT. The Islanders made a lot of good changes after each intermission and they looked like the better team in the 2nd half of that game.

The main things to take away from game 2 is that the Flyers scored every goal 5v5 and they seemed to figure it out. However, they need to learn how to put the game away. Even though the Flyers won the game, the Islanders have to have some confidence going in. Also, on this back to back there may be more penalties and I trust the Islanders power play more than I do the Flyers.

I haven’t seen enough from the Flyers to be fully confident in them.

New York Islanders vs Philadelphia Flyers Game 3 Prediction

I am going to predict a more defensive game in this one, but I lean towards the Islanders. I think they bounce back big and get more power play opportunities.
