After a 42-19 victory over the Eagles on Sunday, San Francisco’s QB is now favorite to win this season’s NFL MVP award.
It’s funny how quickly things can change in football.
The 2022 NFL Draft saw Brock Purdy selected by the San Francisco 49ers with the final pick that year. Therefore, the Iowa State quarterback became 2022’s Mr Irrelevant.
Now, less than two years later, Purdy has guided the 49ers to an incredible 42-19 win against the Philadelphia Eagles, one of the league’s strongest franchises.
This result now puts San Francisco in second-place in the National Football Conference standings, only behind the Eagles. However, it has more significant meaning for Purdy, who is now the favorite for NFL MVP.
Not so ‘Mr Irrelevant’ now?
Current NFL MVP Odds
Here are the current front-runners in the MVP odds table (odds from DraftKings Sportsbook):
Brock Purdy’s MVP odds of +300 means that, if you were to wager $100 on San Francisco’s man in form, you would win $400 (including stake) if he won Most Valuable Player.
Philadelphia’s Jalen Hurts and Dallas’ Dak Prescott make up the second- and third-favorite for the award. These odds will likely change week-on-week as we approach the Super Bowl. Fast forward a few weeks, Mahomes is now in the driving seat.
DraftKings Sports SPECIAL OFFER
The San Francisco 49ers are currently favorites to win the Super Bowl this year (+310) given their strong run of four consecutive victories. If San Francisco wins the Super Bowl, it is highly likely that Purdy will win the MVP award.
