For the first time since starting my streak, I went 1-2 yesterday. It happens! Astros won by one run (had them -1.5) and the Indians/Twins scored six runs in the first five innings (had -5.5). Tough breaks. It happens! There’s some great match-ups today. I dislike that Saturday baseball is usually at night. The old days when Saturday day games were the thing. Not it’s just Sunday day games for the most part. I get it … but it still stinks! Anyway, here’s my top three best bets today. Hopefully we don’t have any bad beats like yesterday!
Angels @ Red Sox 4:05 pm
The Los Angeles Angels (56-61) play their second game of a three game series at Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox (62-56). The pitching match-up screams nightmare to me. The Red Sox will be throwing Rick Porcello (10-8 5.54 ERA) on the mound against Andrew Heaney (1-3 5.09 ERA) who is coming off the IL for his first start in three weeks. The Red Sox are averaging 3.6 runs in August. Something click last night. The Red Sox poured on 16 runs in the first game of the series. The Angels are actually hitting worse, averaging 2.5 runs a game in August. Boston averages almost 6 runs at home and have won five of Porcello’s last six starts. There’s pitchers out there where teams just like to hit when he’s on the mound. That’s Porcello. They’ll hit for him. Take Boston here.

Athletics @ White Sox 7:10 pm
The Oakland Athletics (66-50) will be playing the second game of the series against the Chicago White Sox (70-45). The A’s will be throwing Tanner Roark (1-0 1.80 ERA) who came over to the A’s before the trade deadline. Youngster Reynaldo Lopez (6-9 5.41) of the White Sox will take the hill for Chicago. Last night, the A’s destroyed the White Sox 7-0. The A’s are hot. They’ve averaged 5.2 runs in their last 11 games. In those games they’re 8-3. Five runs will be enough for Tanner Roark and the A’s to win this one.

Rockies @ Padres 8:40 pm
The Colorado Rockies (52-64) will face off against the Seattle Mariners (54-61). Good news for the Padres … Chris Paddack (7-5 3.19 ERA) will take the hill at home against Chi Chi Gonzalez (0-4 5.95 ERA) of the Rockies. The Rockies absolutely suck on the road. They rank dead last in average and second to last in OPS on the road. Chris Paddack has allowed a .163 average at home in Petco. He hasn’t allowed more than a single run in any home game since April. Gonzalez of the Rockies hasn’t lasted more than five innings in three of his last four starts. The Rockies lost every single one of those games. The line is high, but the value remains.
