Jason Radowitz has picked 67 percent of MLB games correct in the last two weeks with a record of 20-10. He’ll look to stay hot with three more best bets for Friday.

Another series opening weekend is upon us. We’ve got some big rivalry match-ups with crazy playoff implications. August and September (and October). Those are the months we live for as die-hard baseball fans. The Mets clawed their way back into playoff conversation as the Yankees continue to destroy … DESTROY the baseball (and the Orioles.) The Orioles allowed 32 runs and 16 homers in three games to the Yankees. Bad news for the Orioles… the Astros are coming to town. Here are my three best bets for Friday’s action!

Astros @ Orioles 7:10 pm

Let’s get to this game first. The Houston Astros (75-40) will be sending out Wade Miley (10-4 3.05 ERA) against the Orioles’ Dylan Bundy (5-11 5.15 ERA). Bundy has been inconsistent all season. In his one game against the Astros, he only allowed two runs in six innings of work. In that game, he allowed 13 fly balls and only 3 ground balls. The Yankees just recently hit 16 homers in three games. If he’s going to allow 13 fly balls in six innings, the Astros will take advantage. Wade Miley has put together five quality starts in his last seven games started. I expect the Astros to pour it on against the Orioles. They’re beaten. They’re the worst team in baseball. Astros -1.5.

Indians @ Twins 8:10 pm

The Cleveland Indians (69-45) will be playing the second game of the series against the Minnesota Twins (70-45). The Indians will send out their all-star game MVP and ace Shane Bieber (11-4 3.31 ERA) vs Devin Smeltzer (1-1 2.28). Smeltzer allowed just two hits in six innings in his previous start against the Royals. Now I know the Royals aren’t nearly as good as the Indians, but Smeltzer looked good and he’ll get another chance to shine in a big series for both teams. Bieber has been Mr. Reliable. He’s now slowing down. The under 5.5 in the first five innings is in the cards for today. The Indians bullpen struggled last night. I don’t want to deal with that!

Rays @ Mariners 10:10 pm

Here’s an interesting match-up. The Tampa Bay Rays (66-50) are sending out a lefty reliever to start the game against the Seattle Mariners (48-68). Jalen Beeks (5-1 3.77 ERA) will start his second game of the season against Mariners’ Marco Gonzales (12-9 4.32 ERA). The Rays have won seven of their last nine games. They’re bullpen has been solid and they’re 35-22 on the road. Nasty. Jalen Beeks has struggled in long relief at times, but it’s usually asked to come on when the game is out of reach. He just takes the hit and pitches innings to keep everyone else fresh. A number that sticks out to me, though, is that Beeks has an ERA of 1.91 on the road this season, in 37 innings. He’s not going to pitch a perfect game today, but there’s value with the Rays today. If he can pitch five scoreless innings, or close to it, I expect the Rays to come out on top in this one.
