The Arizona Cardinals quarterback has been in scintillating form this season as he aims to guide his team into the playoffs.
Caesars Sports SPECIAL OFFER
We are now around the half-way stage of the 2021/22 NFL season and the Arizona Cardinals are in a good place. After going 7-0 for the season, Arizona’s first slip up came on Thursday as Green Bay were 24-21 winners.
The highlight of Arizona’s season so far has arguably been the rise of Kyler Murray in the National Football League. The 2019 No.1 pick has been flying this season in his quarterback role for the Cardinals.
Following the Cardinals’ seventh-straight victory against Houston on October 24, coach Kliff Kingsbury said the win was sprinkled with evidence of Kyler Murray’s growth and progress.
Kyler Murray has the NFL’s fourth-highest share of pass attempts of 20+ air yards (16%) and is 1st for completion percentage on these throws (56%).
While his rushing yards figures aren’t the greatest, this isn’t his game. His throwing has been top-notch this season and has contributed hugely to Arizona’s successes thus far.
Kyler Murray has been a strong contender for NFL MVP now for weeks. The Cardinals’ Week 8 game against the Packers didn’t help his cause when Murray threw a crucial interception late on which resulted in a Green Bay victory.
However, this shouldn’t take away from his incredible performances in the majority of games this season. Fellow quarterback Aaron Rodgers met Murray after the game and told him he’d see him in the playoffs.
After concerns surrounding Kyler Murray’s availability for Arizona’s next game, it looks like he will in fact be ready to take on the 49ers on Sunday. Another strong performance could really help his MVP chances.
