Josh Allen’s record against every other NFL team in his career. Which franchises does Allen have the best and worst records against?
It wasn’t always easy for Josh Allen, and his record wasn’t always this good.
Drafted seventh overall in the 2018 NFL Draft, Allen’s accuracy, durability, and level of competition were big questions for NFL scouts, particularly in a drafted loaded with quarterback talent.
Five years later, Allen’s clearly outshone Baker Bayfield and Sam Darnold (both picked ahead of him), Josh Rosen (picked 10th), and the battle between Allen and Lamar Jackson (picked 32nd) is a tight one, with each quarterback still looking for a breakthrough playoff victory.
But what is Josh Allen’s record head-to-head against Jackson and the Ravens? What about Allen’s record against divisional rivals like the Dolphins, Jets, as well as the Patriots?
Josh Allen’s Record Vs. All Other NFL Teams
Here’s a look at Josh Allen’s record career mark against each of the 31 other NFL franchises:
OPPONENT | CAREER RECORD |
Arizona Cardinals | 0-1 |
Atlanta Falcons | 1-0 |
Baltimore Ravens | 2-2 (includes 1-0 playoffs) |
Carolina Panthers | 1-0 |
Chicago Bears | 1-0 |
Cincinnati Bengals | 1-1 (includes 0-1 playoffs) |
Cleveland Browns | 1-0 |
Dallas Cowboys | 1-0 |
Denver Broncos | 2-0 |
Detroit Lions | 2-0 |
Green Bay Packers | 1-1 |
Houston Texans | 1-2 (includes 0-1 playoffs) |
Indianapolis Colts | 1-1 (includes 1-0 playoffs) |
Jacksonville Jaguars | 1-1 |
Kansas City Chiefs | 2-3 (includes 0-2 playoffs) |
Las Vegas Raiders | 2-0 |
Los Angeles Chargers | 1-1 |
Los Angeles Rams | 2-0 |
Miami Dolphins | 9-2 (includes 1-0 playoffs) |
Minnesota Vikings | 1-1 |
New England Patriots | 5-4 |
New Orleans Saints | 1-0 |
New York Giants | 1-0 |
New York Jets | 6-4 |
Philadelphia Eagles | 0-1 |
Pittsburgh Steelers | 3-1 |
San Francisco 49ers | 1-0 |
Seattle Seahawks | 1-0 |
Tampa Bay Buccaneers | 0-1 |
Tennessee Titans | 3-2 |
Washington Commanders | 2-0 |
Add it up, and you’ve got an impressive 55-28 regular season record. Not only is that good for about a 68% winning percentage, the total of 83 games over a five-year stretch means Allen has been remarkably durable.
He missed four games with a collarbone injury in his rookie season of 2018 but has since made 76 consecutive starts (including playoffs) – impressive for a quarterback who routinely ranks among the league leaders for rushing attempts at the position.

Josh Allen’s Record Against AFC East Opponents
Josh Allen has become the dean among AFC East quarterbacks, and he also sports a 20-9 career record in games against the Dolphins, Jets, and Patriots combined. Take away head-to-head matchups against Tom Brady while he was the Patriots’ QB, and that mark improves to 20-6.
(Allen lost another heartbreaker to Brady in overtime when TB12 played for Tampa Bay, 33-27 in the 2021 season).

But Allen’s had a better time against other AFC East opponents, including…
Favorite Opponent: Miami Dolphins
Most people from Buffalo would love to take a trip to Miami during the fall and winter months. But perhaps none more so than Josh Allen.
The Bills’ QB is 9-2 vs. the Dolphins in his career, including a 34-31 decision in last year’s wild card playoff round. Including the playoff game, Allen has a career passer rating of 106.0 against the Dolphins with 30 TD passes to only seven interceptions.
He has also rushed for more than eight yards per carry and four touchdowns against his South Florida foes.
Josh Allen’s best record game against Miami? That would have to be Week 2 of his breakout 2020 season, when he threw for 415 yards and four scores against the Dolphins. The Bills needed all of them, outlasting the Dolphins 31-28.

Toughest Opponent: Kansas City Chiefs
We eliminated those teams Josh Allen has played just once in his career – too small a sample size.
When doing so, we’re left with only two franchises who have winning records against Josh Allen as a starting QB – the Houston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs.
Both teams have topped Allen in the NFL playoffs, but Kansas City gets the nod because of how well Allen played in those games yet came out on the short end.
Check out these numbers over two games:
- 65% completions
- 616 yards passing
- 6 touchdown passes, 1 interception thrown
- 18 carries for 156 yards

And what does Josh have to show for it? An AFC Championship defeat as well as a divisional round loss to Kansas City by scores of 38-24 and 42-36 respectively.
It’s interesting to wonder how the narrative around NFL quarterbacks changes if Josh Allen pulls out the record win in one of – or both – of those contests.
Say it’s the Bills facing Tom Brady and the Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV in Tampa, or Buffalo hosting Joe Burrow as well as the Bengals in the 2022 AFC Championship Game? Are fans and experts still as certain that Patrick Mahomes is the NFL’s top QB? Or does Allen receive consideration?
The Bills’ QB got some payback in Week 6 last year when he threw for 329 yards and three touchdowns in a 24-20 win over the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium, But he can’t truly even the score without a postseason victory over Mahomes and the Chiefs.
