Golf fans around the world will be welcoming the Masters back with open arms on Thursday. It has been less than 6 months since the Masters 2020 – rescheduled due to coronavirus. Now, we’re back to the traditional April date for the Masters 2021.

It was Dustin Johnson who got his hands on last year’s Green Jacket after a -20 finish after four days. He currently leads the betting market at DraftKings as a +950 favorite to win back-to-back Masters tournaments.

Four more talented golfers make up the top 5 favorites for the tournament. Bryson DeChambeau, Jordan Spieth, Jon Rahm and Justin Thomas are all in with a shout of taking home the Green Jacket on Sunday.

At AmericanBettingExperts, we always take a look at the picks of experts in the field, regardless of the sport in question. The Masters is no different. We will present the DraftKings Masters picks ahead of Sunday which you can consider ahead of placing your own pre-tournament bets.

Where is the Masters played?

The Masters is traditionally played at the same golf course every year – Augusta National in Georgia, United States.

The course is iconic in the sport and has hosted the Masters every year since 1934. This year is no different, with the Masters 2021 being held at Augusta National.

Past Masters winners

It is always worth noting the past Masters when analyzing the field before making your own Masters bets. By taking a look at past Masters winners, you will get an idea of who can perform on one of golf’s most challenging and iconic courses.

Here are the past Masters winners from the last decade:

  • 2020: Dustin Johnson -20
  • 2019: Tiger Woods -13
  • 2018: Patrick Reed -15
  • 2017: Sergio Garcia -9
  • 2016: Danny Willett -5
  • 2015: Jordan Spieth -18
  • 2014: Bubba Watson -8
  • 2013: Adam Scott -9
  • 2012: Bubba Watson -10
  • 2011: Charl Schwartzel -14
  • 2010: Phil Mickelson -16

DraftKings Masters Picks

This year’s DraftKings Masters picks have been made by Pat Mayo, a man at the heart of golf media, analysis and betting. Of course anything can happen during the Masters, but Pat’s picks are a great signpost for making your own bets as they are based on extensive analysis of the players involved and the course in question on Thursday.

Pick 1: Webb Simpson (+3500)

The first of the DraftKings Masters picks is Webb Simpson at +3500. Simpson isn’t classed as one of the tournament favorites, but he is certainly in with a shout and sits alongside 2018 winner Patrick Reed, Paul Casey and Tony Finau in the betting market.

Webb Simpson joins Johnson, Koepka and Rahm as one of the only players to have Top 10 finishes in each of the past two Masters tournaments. We recognize that he will have to be on top form to be in with a chance of putting on the Green Jacket. However, his form at the Masters in recent years suggests +3500 odds is a good price for Simpson.

Pick 2: Matthew Fitzpatrick

Matthew Fitzpatrick at +4000 odds is the second of the DraftKings Masters picks. Similar to Webb Simpson, Fitzpatrick is well-respected golfer who sits just behind the tournament favorites in the betting market.

Fitzpatrick has made the cut in five straight years at Augusta and heads into this year’s tournament with huge improvements to his driving. His past four stroke play starts have resulted in T11 finishes or better. If conditions are poor this week at Augusta, this will suit Matthew Fitzpatrick down to the ground and may give him a chance at success.

Pick 3: Max Homa (+10000)

Max Homa at +10000 odds is certainly a long shot. However, there is certainly good reason behind Pat Mayo’s third pick.

The American’s Genesis Open victory in February showcased his talent, but it is his victories at Riviera and Quail Hollow which are worth noting. These two courses have seen the largest crossover leaderboards to the Masters over the past decade.

It may be a big ask for Max Homa to experience Augusta success at just his second Masters, but Homa has shown enough skill at previous tournaments to suggest that he is in with a shot.
