The 2021 NFL Draft will take place in Cleveland, beginning on April 29. The draft will begin with the Jacksonville Jaguars at No. 1 overall and will conclude almost 48 hours later with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at No. 259.

The Philadelphia Eagles have the most draft picks this year (11), while the Seattle Seahawks have just four. The New England Patriots and the Minnesota Vikings forfeit their draft picks this year for filming of the Cincinnati Bengals sideline and a salary-cap violation respectively.

Detroit Lions Draft Order

The Detroit Lions are set to make draft pick No. 7. This would come after the Dolphins’ pick at No. 6 and before a No. 8 pick for the Carolina Panthers.

The Detroit Lions rumors and mock draft picks continue as we edge ever closer to the 2021 NFL Draft. This week, there were eight different players mocked to the Lions with the Detroit Lions draft order in mind.

Four of the players landed with the Lions at pick No. 7, one of them was tied to the Lions both at No. 7 and in a trade, and three were only options via a trade. Here are the eight players linked to the Detroit Lions via this week’s mock drafts.

1. Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State

Even with Jared Goff in the Detroit Lions camp, there is a rebuild needed. This is the perfect time to bring in a young, super-talented quarterback in Justin Fields to learn alongside Goff.

2. Ja’Marr Chase, WR, LSU

The Lions are in need of a top-quality wide receiver. Chase is currently being mocked by several big names including Charles Davis (NFL.com), Ryan Wilson (CBS Sports).

3. Jaylen Waddle, WR, Alabama

Waddle is currently being mocked by several names in the industry, including mock picks after a trade back with the Denver Broncos (Chris Trapasso, CBS Sports) and the New England Patriots (Josh Edwards, CBS Sports).

4. DeVonta Smith, WR, Alabama

DeVonta Smith could be a great pairing for Jared Goff. He’s extremely quick off the line and would be a great addition to a franchise lacking in high-quality wide receivers.

5. Rashod Bateman, WR, Minnesota

If picked, Rashod Bateman would instantly become the Lions’ top receiving option. He is currently being mocked by Matt Valdovinos (Pro Football Network) after a trade down with Washington.

6. Penei Sewell, OT, Oregon

Currently being mocked by Eric Edholm (Yahoo Sports), John McClain (Houston Chronicle), Sam Monson (PFF), Luke Easterling (The Draft Wire).

7. Rashawn Slater, OT, Northwestern

There are doubts over this man’s height and weight in comparison to the average offensive tackles in the NFL. However, what Rashawn Slater lacks in measurables, he certainly makes up for in athleticism.

8. Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State

The Lions trade back and still get the guy they want, going by some mock drafts. This would be after a trade back with the Patriots. Parsons is a sideline-to-sideline ‘backer who can cover and hit. Just what his kneecap-biting head coach desires’.
