Matt DiLeo gives his best bet for this Monday Night Football Showdown.
This Week 2 matchup will start in Metlife Stadium in New Jersey on Monday September 16th at 7:10pm.
Cleveland Browns at New York Jets Preview
The Browns opened up as 2.5 point favorites on the road against the Jets and with the news of Sam Darnold sick with Mono and out for a few weeks the line has shifted to -6.5 in favor of the Browns. Both of these teams looked horrible in week 1 as they both look to bounce back and get their first wins of the season. With all of the hype surrounding the Browns this offseason, if they fall to 0-2 that might quickly fade away. The Jets were also supposed to be a fringe playoff team as well and if they fall down 0-2 with Darnold sidelined for more weeks this could get ugly fast. This game could mean more to both clubs than they think as of now and we should be in for a treat on Monday Night.
New York Jets
The Jets should have easily won in week 1 against the Bills. They had 4 takeaways in the first half and couldn’t capitalize and they were also up 13 in the 4th quarter. They ended up losing on a last-minute drive led by Josh Allen. However, the Jets do have 1 thing going for them. Le’Veon Bell did look healthy and he was very explosive. With the absence of Darnold, if Bell can control the game and get his, the Jets could pull of the upset. Trevor Siemian with get the start and he has games under his belt, but the Jets will miss Darnold for sure. The Jets defense did look solid in week 1 and they are going to have to repeat that performance to put Trevor in the best position to lead this Jets team to a win at home.
Cleveland Browns
All we got from week 1 was that the Browns could be very over-hyped and that Odell wears expensive watches. They need to fix a lot of kinks and figure out their chemistry or they can easily find themselves down 0-2 to start the season. They are by far the better offensive team on paper, especially with Trevor Siemian starting for the Jets this week. The Browns will need to focus in, and Freddie Kitchens is going to have to prove that he can be a head coach at this level. I think Baker gets back on track and we see the Browns control most of the game and it might get close at the end, it just depends on who maintains their composure.
Cleveland Browns at New York Jets Betting Tips
Usually I would stay away from this game as I don’t like Cleveland on the road and no chemistry, but I also don’t like a Jets team that looked horrible offensively and without Darnold. However, I’m leaning a little more towards the Browns here with all of their pieces in play for Monday night. Also, 53% of bets are going towards the Jets ML while 93% of the money is going towards the Browns. This is a great opportunity as of now to bet against the public. The public looks like they can’t make up their mind, but the Sharps are all over the Browns! Take the juice on the Browns getting their first win! Matty Ice out.
