WAG PICKS THE BEST BETS FOR WEDNESDAY’S SLATE, GOING 2-2-1 ON TUESDAY. THE GROUP OF DEATH WILL BE IN ACTION!
Tuesday’s slate of games was a bit of a toughy as Manchester City have found their offensive motivation thrashing Atalanta, Atletico managed to take care of business in unconvincing fashion against Bayer Leverkusen. Juventus bailed them selves out thanks to Dybala, and Real Madrid continued their struggling ways against Galatasaray. But over all we went 2-2-1 with Juventus Pushing our Over 3 goals bet.
Compared to Tuesday’s slate of games, Wednesday’s Champions League fixtures are a lot more intriguing that make your mouth water. The betting lines are even crazier right now that sees Chelsea as underdogs in Ajax, Salzburg’s money line is almost even with Napoli’s, and a struggling Dortmund side travel south to Milan where they will face a passionate Conte.

Ajax vs. Chelsea
PREVIEW
Ajax are perfect in Group H after thrashing Valencia away from home 0-3, and the dutchmen have yet to concede a goal in the Champions League. Chelsea bounced back nicely after their shocking defeat to Valencia at home that saw the Blues take care of business against Lille earlier this month. Both teams haven’t lost a game in their last five fixtures in all competitions, but Ajax have the better playing style than Lampard’s Blues. Quincy Promes is proving to be the right signing for Ajax after depositing their checks from Juventus and Barcelona, adding to an already powerful offense with Ziyech and Alvarez. Chelsea have a tough task ahead of them
KEY STATS
- Chelsea are unbeaten against Dutch teams
- Ajax have won 1 of 4 home games vs. English teams
- Ajax conceded 1 goal in last 5 matches
PREDICTION
Going into this matchup, I felt good about the Blues heading into this game. They already suffered a Champions League loss making it unlikely for them to lose 2 with-in 3 games. With exception against Southampton, Chelsea needed to grind out a few wins which tells me they won’t accept defeat. But Ajax’s current defense is not one to mess with either. Im taking Ajax all the way!
Benfica vs. Lyon
PREVIEW
Portuguese side Benfica have had a long break going into this fixture with Lyon coming into town. The timing couldn’t be perfect for Benfica after losing to Zenit 3-1. It was not a 3-1 game, I can tell you that much. But Zenit were able to exploit Benfica’s defense and finish their chances with a little bit of luck. Benfica need to win this game if they want to excel their Europa League success into the Champions League. And it’s a tough matchup ahead as Lyon are a strong side that are poised to advance to the knockout stages. They had an impressive away win against a hot Leipzig team winning 2-0. Group G becomes tighter and tighter.
KEY STATS
- When previously grouped, both teams won their home fixtures
- Lyon has lost both away fixtures vs. Portuguese teams
- No French side has won away at Benfica in 14 visits
PREDICTION
I will tell you what, Benfica have a good supporting crowd that would intimidate any opponent on that pitch. But Benfica who are so dangerous and so perfect in the Europa League always struggle when it comes to the big boys of Europe. Maybe that is the Portuguese league’s fault by being very weak, and yet you see Ajax thriving who is in a league of semi professionals, not really. I love Lyon in this matchup, it will be another scenario that Benfica can’t handle just like when Leipzig beat them 2-1
Salzburg vs. Napoli
PREVIEW
Red Bull Salzburg continue to be the story of the Champions League after giving Liverpool a 7 goal game at Anfield and all the buzz surrounding Erling Haaland is becoming real and exciting. Salzburg almost lost their Austrian Bundesliga fixture over the weekend where Sekou Koita bailed the Red Bulls out earning them a tie. But the explosive offense could be put on hold against a Napoli team that are defensively solid. Napoli is looking for their 4th consecutive clean sheet against RB Salzburg. But these two teams have played each other this year during the Europa League knockout stages that saw Napoli win on aggregate 4-3.
KEY STATS
- Napoli lost in Salzburg 3-1 during the Europa League this year
- Salzburg have yet to lose any of the 19 home European matches
- Napoli have yet to concede a Champions League goal
PREDICTION
So I was all over Napoli in this match because I was provided some false information to a, what I thought was a trust worthy source. I was informed that Napoli beat the Austrians in Salzburg, when that is in fact not the case! seE below my viSual, and if you recognize the temPlate iN which this was put in, you’ll know the culprit.

Now that this fuck up made me realize how fucked up my decision was going to be, that RB Salzburg is the only road for me to turn onto. It’s the little things that make you change your mind.
Inter Milan vs. Dortmund
PREVIEW
A Group of Death matchup is in the mixture for Wednesday as Dortmund are in dire need to regain their form at the San Siro. It’s not like Dortmund is losing games in the Bundesliga, but they aren’t winning them either. But their 0-2 win against Slavia Prague was an Ugly victory, with a capital U. Dortmund looked disoriented and in dissary all 90 minutes where they had to deal with a Prague team who looked like they were having fun. Barcelona got out of a scary situation against Inter as Martinez scored right off the bat against the Catalans. Containing an aging Suarez was a definite challenge for Inter, but pouncing on a struggling Dortmund side could excel the Italians into the knockout stages.
KEY STATS
- Inter are winless in 6 UEFA matches vs. German teams
- Dortmund conceded 2 goals in last 8 CL Group stage matches
- Dortmund beat Bundesliga 1st Monchengladbach 1-0 over the weekend
PREDICTION
I love love love Dortmund in this matchup. Winning 1-0 against Monchengladbach couldn’t have happened at a better time. Reus’ goal could prove to be the breakthrough Dortmund needed to get out of this current funk. Dortmund, Dortmund, Dortmund.
Lille vs. Valencia
PREVIEW
Lille play hosts to Spanish side Valencia as the french are looking to gain their first points of Group H. Ajax proved to be too much to handle for the french, but were able to give Chelsea some trouble. It looked good from the french side scoring 10 minutes after Tammy Abraham’s strike in the 22nd minute. Valencia were able to shock Chelsea at Stamford Bridge at the heart of their turmoil. Valencia has built a serious foundation that could sneak them into the knockout stages. Valencia will be poised to have six points in the group after beating Lille on Wednesday.
KEY STATS
- Lille has never beaten Valencia in UEFA
- Lille has never beaten a Spanish team in the CL
- Valencia have failed to score in 7 of last 11 CL matches
PREDICTION
This has to be a guarantee win for Valencia, but by saying that they will probably lose this game. Listen, the stats don’t lie. Lille has never beaten a Spanish team in the Champions League. The french overall don’t do well in the Champions League, PSG shit the bed against Manchester United who are abysmal under Ole. I love Valencia, and you will love me after.
