Draymond Green believes that the Brooklyn Nets’ current offense could be the best in NBA history after their series victory against Boston.
Tuesday night saw the Brooklyn Nets defeat the Boston Celtics 123-109 in Game 5 and progress to the Eastern Conference semifinals for the first time since 2014.
As has been the case throughout this season, the deadly offensive trio of Durant, Harden and Irving dominated in the Nets’ Game 5 victory over Boston and combined for 83 points. Unbelievably, the combined 83 points was below their combined scoring average of 85.2 points in the series. This was the highest scoring average by a trio in any playoff series in NBA history.
Durant, Harden and Irving blew Boston out the water and they’re now heading into the second round full of confidence. The Milwaukee Bucks await, with Game 1 scheduled for Saturday at 7:30pm ET at Barclays Center.
Golden State Warriors’ Draymond Green made a bold claim this week, stating that the Nets’ current offense is the best the NBA is likely to ever see. A bold, but fair claim.
If we’re talking numbers again, the Nets averaged 123.4 points per game during their series against the Celtics. Not only did they score high, but they did so extremely efficiently, shooting 49.3% from the field, 41.6% from 3-point range, and 92% from the free-throw line. The numbers are just crazy.
With the Bucks up next, the Nets will have to bear in mind that they were 1-2 against them in the regular season. It’s going to be a difficult series, but Brooklyn never played with the big three of Durant, Harden and Irving all on the floor together during their regular season matchups.
Bucks star man Giannis Antetokounmpo called Kevin Durant “one of the greatest scorers to ever play this game”. It will be interesting to see these two matchup as they fight for their team’s place in the Conference Finals.
It is definitely up for discussion as to whether this is the best offense the NBA has ever seen. If the Nets win a Championship, which is definitely on the cards this season, then we could have our answer.
