Ohio State Buckeyes vs Wisconsin Badgers Preview

After defeating Minnesota last week, Wisconsin (10-2) will have an opportunity to play for the BIG TEN Championship against Ohio State (12-0) at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Saturday night. Ohio State and Wisconsin have met in the Big Ten Championships in 2014 and 2017 where Ohio State presumably won both games.

Ohio State currently ranks as the number one team in the nation according to the CFP Committee. After their defeat against Michigan, it looks like they’ll be hanging out at the top for another week.

For Wisconsin, these big games aren’t new. They’ve advanced to the Big Ten Championship four of their last six seasons, yet they haven’t won a Big Ten Championship since 2012. Wisconsin likely won’t be able to make it into the CFP with a win against Ohio State, but it would sure make some noise around College Football. A Wisconsin win would put them in a New Year’s 6 Bowl at least. They’re led by running back Jonathan Taylor who has rushed for 1,761 yards and accumulated 25 total touchdowns on the year.

Ohio State is coming into this game after dismantling two of the top Big Ten opponents in their last two games. They beat up on Penn State and Michigan, two highly regarded teams in the lower tier of the CFP rankings. They’re led by quarterback Justin Fields and running back JK Dobbins where they have the top scoring offense in the country. Ohio State has scored 49.9 points per game and they rank fifth in total offense with 534.3 yards per game.

The Buckeyes also feature the top defensive player, Chase Young, who will be the first defensive player taken in the upcoming draft. There’s finally a defensive player who is in the Heisman conversation, although he likely won’t win the award due to his two-game suspension earlier this year.

Ohio State Buckeyes vs Wisconsin Badgers Prediction

We were already hyped about this game a little over a month ago. Wisconsin, ranked 13 at the time, traveled to Ohio State to play the number three ranked Buckeyes. For Wisconsin, it didn’t go as planned. Ohio State won that game 38-7, covering the spread. JK Dobbins ran for 163 yards and two touchdowns while Chase Young chipped in defensively with four sacks.

Wisconsin does not have the star-power to stick with Ohio State. Jack Coan, quarterback of Wisconsin, threw just 10 completions for 108 yards, with a QBR of 13.9. Taylor rushed for 52 yards on 20 carries. Wisconsin’s big playmaker had trouble finding any room to run the ball.

This game won’t be any different. The Buckeyes are on an entirely different level than the Badgers and it’ll show Saturday night. Take the Buckeyes -16.5.
