An exciting time for the Grand Canyon state as a new world of online sports betting is on the horizon for Arizona residents.
Caesars Sports SPECIAL OFFER
The state of Arizona is set to launch online sports betting on September 9, 2021, in perfect time for the new Football season.
Arizona will join states like New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Michigan on the US sports betting scene in what is expected to be an exciting time for the Grand Canyon State.
Arizona sports betting was legalized in April 2021. This month, the Arizona Department of Gaming announced they are now welcoming double the amount of sportsbooks than what they originally had offered. So, what does this mean for the Arizona sports betting landscape moving forward?
Arizona Sports Betting Licenses Galore
The most recent sports betting rules in the Grand Canyon state allow for 20 event wagering operator licenses. These licenses are split across Arizona sports teams and venues (10 licenses), and tribal casinos (10 licenses).
Six sportsbook operators have already confirmed deals with venues and tribal casinos:
- DraftKings Arizona – the DraftKings Arizona brand will be present thanks to their partnership with the PGA
- FanDuel Arizona – FanDuel now have a deal with Arizona’s number one basketball team, the Phoenix Suns
- Caesars Arizona – Caesars, which has multiple online sportsbooks, is partnered with the Arizona Diamondbacks of the MLB
- Bally’s Arizona – the Bally’s brand have been proactive in securing a partnership with the state’s WNBA team, Phoenix Mercury
- Kindred Arizona – this sportsbook umbrella brand have confirmed a deal through the Quechan Tribe, which will open the door to a number of online sportsbook brands
- WynnBet Arizona – WynnBet have partnered with San Carlos Apache for their entrance into the Arizona betting market
Operators with one of the 20 event wagering licenses can now launch one retail location and two mobile platforms after the rule change. This is amazing news for operators like Caesars, who can now launch both William Hill and Harrah’s sportsbooks in Arizona rather than just one of these brands.
Highly Competitive Market for Arizona Sportsbooks
In the sports betting space, Arizona will be a unique one because it is the first state that is legalizing sports betting where Daily Fantasy Sports was not legal beforehand.
Sports betting giants FanDuel and DraftKings have dominated other sports betting states since their launches because so many already had accounts for DFS purposes. With no prior accounts set up for DFS in Arizona, this paves the way for other sportsbook brands to invest and be proactive in snapping up new customers as quickly as possible. There’s no head-start for DraftKings and FanDuel this time!
An Exciting Time for Budding Sports Bettors in Arizona
What does heavy competition between online sportsbook brands result in? Generous welcome offers and incentives for both new and existing customers.
All of the new sportsbooks in Arizona will be keen to ensure that you are opening an account with them in September. Expect plenty of risk free bet opportunities coming your way as an Arizona sports bettor this fall.
As experienced by those in Michigan, sportsbooks may even decide to offer enticing pre-launch offers to the people of Arizona. This would involve signing up to an online sportsbook before the launch and the sportsbook dropping free bets into your new account in return.
Which sportsbook brands do we expect to see in Arizona?
