Our favorite bet for 2021/22 NFL MVP
You really cannot argue with the 2022 NFL MVP odds. While it’s a very low odds selection for a season-long bet, Patrick Mahomes has to be our favorite bet.
Even though he didn’t win last year’s MVP award, Mahomes is still undoubtedly the best quarterback in the league. He knows what it takes to be top of the class in the quarterback rankings and already, at just 25 years old, has appeared twice at the Super Bowl.
2018 was a big one for Mahomes. That season, he threw for 5,097 yards, 50 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He became the first quarterback in history to throw for more than 5,000 yards in a season in both college and the NFL and joined Peyton Manning as one of the only players to throw 50 touchdown passes and 5,000 yards in a single NFL season.
The Chiefs are +500 favorites to win the 2022 Super Bowl. If they manage it, we have no doubts that Patrick Mahomes will be a significant contributing factor to their success. If you think the Chiefs will make it to the Super Bowl, then we think Mahomes MVP is the correct call.
Our dark horse bet for 2021/22 NFL MVP
He’s third in the 2022 NFL MVP odds list, but he’s still a dark horse in our eyes. Josh Allen has a real shot at winning this season’s NFL MVP award if he can achieve success with an exciting Bills team.
The Buffalo Bills are currently third-favorites to win the Super Bowl (+1000) and have every chance of making the dream a reality for the first time in their history.
Many NFL pundits believe Josh Allen is the man to finally guide the Bills to Super Bowl success. His second year as a starter for the Bills resulted in a 10-win season and the Bills’ second playoff appearance since 1999. Allen built on this in his third year, breaking many franchise passing records and leading Buffalo to its first divisional title and playoff win since 1995.
We don’t see why Josh Allen cannot continue to build on these achievements this coming season. He is our dark horse bet at +1000.
Our outsider bet for 2021/22 NFL MVP
Based on current MVP odds, we’re going with Kyler Murray at +2000 for our outsider bet. The Arizona Cardinals quarterback is a force to be reckoned with and is expected to up his game this season.
The Cardinals are a middle-of-the-pack team but are actually highest odds to win the NFC West (+650). However, Murray played a major part in the Cardinals’ improvement from 5 season wins in 2019 to 8 wins in the 2020/21 season.
If Murray and the Cardinals can continue to improve this season in a tough division like the NFC West, then there is no doubt he will be part of the MVP conversation. With receivers DeAndre Hopkins and Christian Kirk on Murray’s side, there is definitely potential for success.
