2019 NHL Draft Preview

After a fantastic Stanley Cup Finals and another NHL season in the books, we shift our energy towards the NHL Draft. My hometown team, the New Jersey Devils have secured the #1 Pick as they hope to somehow get back to the glory days in the early 2000’s. The Rangers follow suit right behind them with the #2 Pick and then the Blackhawks behind them with the third. This Draft class is filled with talent all around and each team is looking to find their next superstar. So, without further ado here are my 3 favorite Bet Props.

2019 NHL Draft Betting Props

1. Jack Hughes to go #1 Overall (-1200)

The Devils snagging the #1 Pick was a huge victory for New Jersey and they will capitalize with picking the best overall player in Jack Hughes. His comparison to Patrick Kane is obviously a huge compliment but if it turns out to be true the Devils could have the next face of their franchise. The Odds are as high as -1200 on some sportsbooks which doesn’t really have any value at all, but I think this is the safest bet to at least pick and say you got 1 right, while also picking up a few extra bucks.

2. Over 7.5 Americans Drafted in 1st Round (-130)

Priced at -130 for the over and that is good enough odds for me to take with the amount of American talent in this pool. In most NHL Mock Drafts, they have 5 Americans going in the top 10 which means only 3 more need to go before pick #31. I think the talent pool is big enough to where maybe 10 can go in the 1st round and I would put my money on USA this draft.

3. Thomas Harley Under 18.5 (-140)

Harley has a great blend of speed, size and IQ to make him a safe pick somewhere in the teens; teams picking in the middle to late stages of Round 1 often look for earlier-maturing all-around players to avoid potential busts. Some Mock drafts have him as low as 23, while some as high as 13. I think he will go somewhere between 12-20 and I’ll lay the juice on the under 18.5.

2019 NHL Draft Prediction

I think this draft is filled with amazing talent and as a Devils fan I can’t wait to see Jack Hughes in a Devils uniform after this weekend. Hopefully they can use this momentum and get back in to the playoff race in a few years. This is also an American heavy draft which is exciting for any American hockey fan. This weekend should be a good one and a lot of teams will find their “next big thing” which should make next year’s season another fantastic one.
